What is BLI Community School?
BLI Community School is an innovative educational model that combines strong academic instruction with student-centered learning, community engagement, and college and career preparation. Our goal is to help students develop the knowledge, skills, character, and confidence needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
How is BLI different from a traditional school?
BLI blends the best aspects of traditional education with personalized learning. Students receive instruction in core academic subjects during the morning and participate in interest-based electives during the afternoon. This approach allows students to master essential academic skills while exploring their passions and developing real-world competencies.
What grades do you serve?
BLI Community School Network serves students in grades K-12. Each campus is designed as a PK- 6, PK- 8, or a secondary school for students ages 13-18.
What subjects are taught?
Students receive instruction in English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, along with opportunities to develop critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
What are afternoon electives?
Afternoon electives are student-selected courses that change monthly and may include science and technology, sports and fitness, health and wellness, visual arts, performing arts, entrepreneurship, leadership, and other enrichment opportunities.
How do students choose their electives?
Students select electives based on their interests and goals. This choice-based model encourages engagement, ownership of learning, and exploration of new interests. Electives change monthly.
What is BLI's community service program?
Beginning at age 12, students participate in meaningful community service experiences that connect classroom learning with real-world impact. Through partnerships, projects, and service initiatives, students develop leadership skills, empathy, and civic responsibility while making a positive contribution to their communities.
Why is community service important at BLI?
We believe education should extend beyond the classroom. Community service helps students build character, strengthen leadership skills, gain practical experience, and understand how they can positively impact the world around them.
What is dual enrollment?
Dual enrollment allows eligible students to earn college credits while completing their high school education. Students can begin participating in dual enrollment opportunities at age 15 through USF.
What are the benefits of dual enrollment?
Dual enrollment helps students get a head start on college, experience higher-level coursework, reduce future college costs, and strengthen their college applications.
Is BLI focused on college or career preparation?
Both. We prepare students for multiple pathways after graduation, including college, technical training, entrepreneurship, military service, and workforce opportunities.
How do you support different learning styles?
Our model supports different learning styles through an intentional balance of direct instruction, inquiry-based learning, and personalized tutoring.
Do students receive a diploma?
Yes. Students receive a standard diploma by taking the ACT to satisfy graduation requirements.
How does BLI measure student success?
Success is measured through academic achievement, skill development, community engagement, leadership growth, college and career readiness, and progress toward individual goals. All students take MAP by NWEA in the fall, winter, and spring of each year.
How do I enroll my child?
Interested families should begin by filling out the application on our website. The admissions team will contact the family to answer questions and schedule a tour and family interview. Both the parents and the child attend the interview.

Absolutely. We believe strong family partnerships are essential to student success and encourage parents and guardians to participate in school events, volunteer opportunities, and community initiatives.
